Ford Supergirl Pro (Friday 8 a.m. to Sunday 4 p.m.)
Be proud San Diego. We are holding the largest female surfing event in the world and the only ASP 6-Star Ford Supergirl Pro presented by Paul Mitchell surf contest in North America. This weekend at Oceanside pier, 100 of the world’s top female pros committed to compete, including Bethany Hamilton, Alana Blanchard, Carissa Moore, Courtney Conlogue, Coco Ho and many more. Latin American Festival and Mata Ortiz Pottery Market (Friday 10 a.m. to Sunday 5 p.m.)
San Diego’s Largest Collection of Hand-painted Mata Ortiz Mexican Pottery, colorful Mexican folk art, and vibrant artisan jewelry will be showcased alongside traditional clothing and textiles, and colorful collectibles. Nonstop musical entertainment provided by Latin American folk band TINKU and authentic Mexican cuisine from neighboring Casa Guadalajara restaurant available for purchase. Bazaar del Mundo will be transformed into a vibrant marketplace where festival-goers can enjoy live demonstrations as Guest artisans from Chihuahua, Mexico hack away at wooden stumps to create eye-popping life-like animal figures, weave hand-pulled wool into intricate textiles and skillfully paint delicate designs onto hand-formed clay pots. Artisans also from Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Ecuador and various other Latin American Countries will each showcase their traditional crafts and highly sought after hand-made goods. Smokin’ Q Classic (Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
An official Kansas City BBQ Society sanctioned event, teams compete for $10,000 in prize money, awards, and the next level of competition. Taste ticket will be available for purchase at 11 am at the main info booth and at ticket booth locations throughout the event. Tastes do not start until noon, and certain items are not guaranteed to be available all day. The event also features the Blazin’ Bike Show, a motorcycle show with 15 different classifications and awards, street fair vendors, a beer garden, and live entertainment all day. Every year the Vista Village Business Association chooses a charity to receive a portion of the profits from the Smokin’ Q Classic and Vista Rod Run. Solutions for Change has once again won our hearts and we are proud to support their cause! Solutions for Change provides access to the skills, knowledge, and resources homeless families need to regain their physical, emotional, and economic health and permanently solve their homelessness. Gourmet Food Truck Festival (Saturday Noon-6:00 p.m.)
This 3rd annual event is free with paid racetrack admission of $6 to be able to try 50 Gourmet Food Trucks from all over San Diego, Orange County, and Los Angeles. Located in the Seaside Concert Area, West of grandstand pair your food items with several craft beers on tap. So make sure to bring your appetite on Saturday, as some of the tastiest food on wheels comes to Del Mar. most items range from $4-$8 and benefits charity partner Meals on Wheels. Vista Rod Run (Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
The 24th annual Vista Rod Run features over 300 classic cars and specialty vehicles in a historic downtown setting. The Vista Rod Run awards over 30 trophies and prizes for our winning vehicles, and “Best of Show” will be featured on the following year’s event t-shirt. Every year the Vista Village Business Association chooses a charity to receive a portion of the profits from the Smokin’ Q Classic and Vista Rod Run. Automobile Heritage Day (Sunday 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
Another Automobile showcase! This event is in its 22nd year being on the first Sunday in august with more than 200 participants showcasing their automobiles and competing for awards in a variety of categories, ranging from turn-of-the-century production cars to classics and muscle cars. As you take a look at each of the cars make sure to stop by one of the great food from some of National Cities popular eateries, while you are enjoying the wide variety of live music performers and Specialty Business booths that add another element of entertaining for the attendees. North PB Sip ‘N Stroll (Sunday 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
Take the whole family out this free and fun event. Even though those over 21 can purchase 3 tasting samples for only 10 dollars, this event is still a family friendly street fair aimed at promoting and uncover North Pacific Beach brick and mortar and “from-home” businesses. Support your local businesses, while sipping on tasters of local wine and beer, and getting to know their neighbors. Get to know the owners of the neighborhood businesses, at this event that also features the Tula Ru Kid’s Court with a jumper, face painters, and an arts and crafts area. Bonnie Lass Brigade’s Fallen Firefighter Fundraiser (Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.)
Honor the Fallen is a fundraiser honoring Fallen Firefighters with appearances by the San Diego Firefighters Emerald Society Pipes & Drums, the SDFFES Bonnie Lass Brigade, the Fooks, Lexington Field, Records with Roger, prizes, and street tacos. $10 minimum donation, 100% goes directly to the San Diego Firefighters Emerald Society 501(c)3 charity honoring the fallen. One Direction (Sunday 7:30 p.m.)
Where are all my 1D fans? Did you already get your ticket to the one direction concert this Sunday? I Hope so because it is SOLD OUT! Everyone wants to go see this boy band. Making their debut on The X Factor, these boys have become common household names especially houses with young girls! Held at Sleep Train Amphitheatre, prepare yourself for thousands of screaming girls!
National Night Out (TUESDAY 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.)
National Night Out is an event designed to heighten awareness of crime and drug prevention, generate support for anti-crime programs, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships. They will have various booths set up for kid’s activities and provide safety information to the citizens in our community. Bring your children for fingerprinting, face painting, watch a police canine demonstration, SWAT display, McGruff the Crime Dog and much more!! Residence and neighborhoods throughout San Diego and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening with neighbors and police.
