Top San Diego Happy Hours With a Coastal View!

Written by Tami Jones

You’ve been busting your beautiful booties all week, putting up with imbeciles who think early Monday morning and late Friday afternoon meetings are okay, listening to your coworkers blabber on incessantly about how cute their cat looks in boots, dodging infectious diseases from people who refuse to wash their hands after they use the toilet – so we’ve decided that you’ve earned a little break!

We’d like you to sit back, kick up those barking dogs, and let us guide you to an unbridled inner peace by helping you find the best Coastal San Diego Happy Hours with a view!

South Beach Bar & Grille in Ocean Beach – Happy Hour: 3pm-close

South Beach offers specials every night of the week, except for Friday, so don’t get your pantaloons in a wad because you might have to wait an extra day to partake. Offering $3 Mimosas and $4 House Bloody Mary’s; $3 pints, and an ARRAY of specialty drinks for four bucks, and happy hour food specials, South Beach nails the happy hour AND eccentric O.B. vibe. Located just steps away from the Ocean Beach Pier, South Beach encompasses everything we love about happy hours with a view.

Tangier Bar at the Bahia Resort Hotel in Mission Bay – Happy Hour every day: 3-6pm

The Tangier Bar patio backs up right onto Mission Bay, where you can enjoy a nice glass of wine, leisurely watching the boats cruise in and out of the cove, while making fun of tourists who forget to wear sunscreen. Human lobsters, I tell you.

$3.50 Drafts , $4 Wells, $4.50 House Wine, and food specials

Pacific Beach Ale House – Social Hour M-F: 3-6pm

This two-story beachfront pub offers house brewed beer, amazing pub food (the lobster and crab roll is a MUST), and an upstairs deck where P.B. people-watching will never cease to amaze.

$3/$5 House Drafts, $3 House Red/White, $3 Wells, and food specials.

Crab CatcherHappy Hour every day: 3-9pm

Often overlooked for its more well-known neighbors on Prospect (think George’s at the Cove, Roppongi, etc.), the Crab Catcher has incredible views of the cove, simple yet elegant décor, and one of the best happy hours in La Jolla. As an added bonus, most La Jollans are big proponents of rearranging their faces through the modern day miracles of plastic surgery, so the sight-seeing is extra entertaining.

$4 Margaritas, Premium Wines by the Glass, Domestic Beers, Champagne, and food specials

Jakes Del MarHappy Hour: M-F 4-6pm & 2:30-4:30pm on Sat.

If you haven’t been here for happy hour yet, you might want to slap yourself for punishment. Jake’s is located right on the sand in one of San Diego’s most stunning and affluent seaside towns. It has sweeping views of the Pacific, a friendly and fun bar staff, outstanding food and drink specials, and allows you the opportunity to make fun of the local ‘Del Martians’ who are all trying to defy the aging process, just like their La Jollan brothers and sisters. Seriously, it’s hilarious.

$2 off Coastal Cocktails and draft beer all night, $5 glass wine specials, 40% off all bistro items.

Las OlasHappy Hour: M-F 4-6pm, Tues. 4pm-close

It’s not on the “beach” side of the 101, like the other ridiculously high-priced monstrosities across the street, but the view of the ocean, chill Cardiff by The Sea vibe, and reasonable happy hour prices makes this a winner for us. Bonus: Pineapple n’ Chile margarita, are you serious? Also, (random) the beans are delicious.

$3.50 House Margaritas / $4 Select Draft Beer Pints, Fresh Mango & Strawberry Margaritas / $4.50 Pineapple N’Chile Margarita / $6 Glass Wine / $16 Draft Beer Pitcher / $19.50 House Margarita Pitchers / $20 Mango & Strawberry Margarita Pitchers / $21 Bottle Wine & food specials.

Are you still at work? Seriously, GET OUT OF THERE, and go enjoy living in paradise.
