San Diego, you don’t need to go to SeaWorld to see killer whales in action.
This video, shot by a couple of fishermen near the San Diego Bay, Thursday, September 10th, shows just how intense marine encounters off of our shores can be.
The orcas were first sighted by the fishermen 5-miles off of the shore of Point Loma, sdfish.com reports.
In the video, the pod can be seen weaving in and out of the fishermen’s wake, chasing them as they shoot across the water. Several of the whales get close enough that they can clearly be seen swimming underwater, alongside the boat, while the passengers gape and awe off camera.
What happens at the 1:32 mark of the video will take your breath away!
While Grey Whales are often sighted near San Diego in the winter, and Blue Whales in the summer, Killer Whales, outside of Sea World, are not as common off of San Diego’s shores.
