Dia De Los Muertos is a part of my Mexican culture, a celebration of loved ones who have passed on. It happens every year on November 1st and 2nd. Some people even build alters to commemorate these loved ones, placing all kinds of different things on them — food and objects. They are very beautiful and you can actually see Day Of The Dead Alters here around different areas in San Diego from National City to Barrio Logan, Sherman Heights and even in Old Town San Diego.
It has always been a dream of mine to do a photo shoot like this. I love Halloween and Dia De Los Muertos so when my friend Karina asked who was willing to do this type of shoot I responded right away, and I am thankful she chose me.
I started my day going to my friend iLex’s house in IB so she could do my makeup, which came out so amazing! After that, Karina and I traveled down to some sort of trail in the South Bay, not that far from Mexico, to take these photos. She did a beautiful job. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the both of you!
If you want to inquire about taking photos with Karina Zuniga don’t hesitate. She’s out of San Diego and SUPER talented. You can email her here: https://www.facebook.com/ZunigaK.Photography/timeline
Also, I will be helping out with The Dia De Los Muertos Festival in Old Town this Sunday, so be sure to stop on by, and if you recognize me under all this makeup, say hello 🙂
