Ever since Adele’s massive hit “Hello” arrived, people have been asking if she will ever work with Lionel Richie. The internet responded almost immediately creating an awesome mash-up of Adele’s song and Lionel Richie’s 1984 hit of the same name. Fans may be seeing the dream collaboration come to fruition. According to the R&B legend, he and the British songstress are in the very early planning stages of working together.
Lionel Richie spoke to E! News about his plans to work with Adele. While things are in the works, don’t look for the duet to happen too soon. “We are going to be doing something together—that’s already almost in the works…I can almost say that we are talking, but right now she has a mission. Her mission is [to] get her record out and go on tour, so until she finishes that cycle, that won’t happen just yet. She is committed to that,” the 66-year-old star offered.
With Adele hitting the road to support her already triple platinum 25 in 2016, Richie was quick to dash any hopes of him making a surprise appearance. Richie joked, “If I jump on her stage, [they’d] probably throw me out. No, no, that won’t happen on this tour! Can you imagine ‘Lionel Richie Jumps or Crawls Up on Adele’s Stage?'”
