Justin Bieber has been internationally famous since 2009. But unlike most jobs which get easier as time goes on, coping with fans has become more difficult for him as his fame increases.

In the upcoming documentary Bodyguards: Secret Lives from the Watchtower, Bieber, his manager, and his chief bodyguard give a behind-the-scenes look on the impact of obsessive fans. The 22-year-0ld and his security director, Mikey Arena, discuss how his need for protection has changed and how fans approach him differently now.

“As fans have grown,” Mikey begins, “they’re more likely to engage [Bieber] in a conversation than to grab him and literally rip him apart.”

Justin added his thoughts by saying how, “As the fans get older and know themselves more they understand how to act. They actually want to act a little bit more sane so that maybe they get my attention. Because at this point, if you’re screaming and super overwhelming, it’s hard for me to connect with you.”

Hear Justin explain his point of view in the trailer above.
